Dr. Irfan Sheikh

Dr. Sheikh is the lead Mathematics tutor and a Director at Bright Minds. He has a very strong academic background havig completed his PhD studies at the world-renowned Imperial College London. He also has a friendly teaching style and enthusiasm for Mathematics.

Many students feel it is impossible for them to achieve the grades necessary to reach the elite universities of the UK. However, Dr. Sheikh strongly believes that everyone has hidden potential and with the right amount of attention it can be nurtured to achieve success.

His qualifications are:

  • PhD Statistics (Imperial College London) 
  • MSc Statistics (Distinction, UCL)
  • BSc Honours Mathematics (1st Class Hon., Royal Holloway, University of London)

In his PhD work he conducted research on advanced Markov Chain Monte Carlo and Sequential Monte Carlo methods and their applications within the Nordic and Australian electricity markets. He completed his research work in 2010 and was able to successfully defend his mathematical work in front of two of the leading statisticians within the European academic community.

Dr. Sheikh is also an energy professional and currently works within the Strategy Group of a leading UK energy company.  His work involves building advanced statistical models of various commodities. He also has experience of working at a London-based Hedge Fund.

Hulya Guzel

Hulya Guzel is a tutor with over 3 years of experience, having taught A-level Pure Maths and GCSE Maths. In her Master of Science research project, she conducted research on the "Evaluation of Virtual Reality Scenes on Mobile Devices for Urban Navigation." Having obtained a distinction for her work, it was subsequently published by Emerald Press under the title of "Mixed Reality (MR) Interfaces for Mobile Information Systems".

"I love teaching because every day is new, different and full of promise. It is so fulfilling when viewing the faces of students who finally get it and are enjoying their newly found knowledge."

Her qualifications include:

  • MSc Information Systems (City University, London)
  • BSc Computer Science & Programming (1st Class Honours, Istanbul)
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)

In addition to her teaching commitments, Miss Guzel is also a professional in the IT industry working as an SQL database administrator and IT lecturer.
